Woodland Hospital is a Multi-Specialty Hospital situated at the heart of the city at Dhankheti, Shillong which was established in 21st March 1991 as a Proprietary concern. Considering the paucity of standard medical facilities available in the state, Dr. W. Kharshiing and his wife Mrs. Margret Wahlang decided to start a Nursing Home offering better alternatives to the patients of the medically deficient state. It was such a dream that few may have been imagined to see in its present form.

The hospital was started with 28 Indoor beds, two Operation Theatres viz; One Major & One Minor, along with the very basic Diagnostic facilities likes: Pathology, X-Ray, Ultra-Sonography etc. The Departments were limited to General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics and ENT. During the year 1994, the hospital was expanded to 56 bed capacity. The New Operation Theatre Complex, a CT Scan Machine and four bedded Intensive Care Unit were also added to meet the increasing demands of the people. The CT scan was the first one the State had ever seen in1995.

The hospital went on to Expand to 120 beds during the year 2001 with the addition of an annexed building. Woodland Hospital has always strived to introduce the latest advancements of medical technology and it introduced the Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) the first one in the state in 2002. At present the hospital expanded to 160 beds with the addition of another annexed building in 2013. The Hospital is the only Hospital in the state which is well equipped with the ultra modern facilities.

In 2006 the Department of Pathology has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for Medical Testing and has been given the Certificate Number M-0213 in accordance with the ISO 15189:2007. The Department of Pathology of the Hospital is the first one in the entire state and the only fourth institution in the entire North East India to be accredited in the field of Medical Blood Testing by NABL at that point of time. This stature is not only the recognition of our expertise in the field for the past works done but is also the boost for the Department of Pathology to continue doing the same for ever. Woodland Hospital, Shillong is also NABH pre accredited.

On 15th September 2020, Woodland WK Hospital was inaugurated at Jowai in West Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya. It is a 100 bedded Multispecialty Hospital having General beds, Semi-private beds and Single rooms. It is equipped with 14 I.C.U beds and 6 Neonatal I.C.U beds. It also has 3 Operation Theatres, 12 Dialysis beds, Endoscopy, X-Ray, CT- Scan, U.S.G, Department of Pathology and Department of Microbiology. Other services include O.P.D and I.P.D and round the clock Emergency Services. All Doctors’ quarters are within the Hospital premises.
